What Are Posts?
Post: Describes a business in a few words.
Google My Business Posts are posts that can be made and uploaded on a GMB Listing, similar to social media posts.
Google is seemingly trying to bring an Instagram/Facebook element about Google Posts.
There are three parts to every post:
- Call to action (CTA)
The minimum size for the image is 720 x 540 pixels at a 4:3 aspect ratio. It can be in JPG, PNG, or BMP format with a maximum file size of 5 MB.
It can also be a video. Posts can be updated without an image or media as well.
The content is the text within your post. It can be up to 1500 characters including spaces. This is approximately 250-300 words.
These are all the possible CTA options a GMB Post can have:
- Order Online
- Learn more
- Call now
Posts appear below the description of a Google My Business Listing.
GMB Posts remain visible on the listing for a total of seven (7) days.
At any time, two (2) posts can be seen from the listing, assuming the most recent post was updated within 7 days of the previous one.
If there are no posts uploaded after the latest post expires, the field becomes empty. However, a user can click ‘view previous posts on Google’ to access the former posts.
Posts are not final. They can be edited and deleted from the GMB Dashboard.
Posts can be used for sales, news, promotions, highlighting a USP, informing the customer of the company’s products or services, and more.
These GMB posts can also be shared on Facebook, Twitter, or email via Google My Business.
